Mojalet Dance Collective hosts a summer of dance at the Vine Theater

Mojalet Dance Collective is hosting a variety of dance performances at the Vine Theater at the Bernardo Winery, 13330 Paseo del Verano Norte.

There is a new performance every weekend through Sept. 15 and 16, starting at 7 p.m. Saturdays and 2 and 4:30 p.m. Sundays.

Canyon Crest Academy Dance Conservatory will perform Saturday and Sunday. The show will highlight the work of recent graduates along with past alum. Rayna Stohl of the conservatory will also debut a new piece or two at the show.

LITVAKdance will perform “Small Dances,” a collection of sketches and explorations into personal vocabularies, as well as an excerpt of the New York-based work “MADBOOTS DANCE,” with a cast of six women, on July 28 and 29.

Artistic Director Spencer Powell and Assistant Artistic Director Trixi Agiao of Visionary Dance Theatre, present their new collaboration, “With Vivaldi,” on Aug. 5 and 6. Jenne Travers, professor of dance from the University of Southern Florida, will also join the program.

Dina Apple, Blythe Barton, Jessica Reed-de Cancel, Lara Segura and Faith Jensen-Ismay will present a night of diverse contemporary dance that will feature artists from around San Diego County on Aug. 11 and 12.

Collage Dance will perform a program featuring work that varies from jazz to modern and classical fusion on Aug. 18 and 19. The program will showcase the “raw and often provocative energy of young artists exploring topics of relationships, environment and navigating through life,” according to the Mojalet Dance Collective website.

Lavina Rich’s Push Process Movement Theory will present new works on Aug. 25 and 26, include one that will explore the drama and allure of soap operas and another that will explore the fallacy of memory, according to the website. The evening will conclude with a performance of the recently premiered Schrekstoff work, “What are you afraid of?”

On Sept. 1 and 2, the California Rhythm Project will recreate pieces by tap dance legends from the golden age of film in “Hollywood & Vine.”

The Mojalet Dance Collective will take the stage on Sept. 8 and 9, performing works by Faith Jensen-Ismay prior to taking the show to Zurich, Switzerland. Works performed at this show will include “Mercy, Moments” and excerpts from a new work, “Inevitable Acclimation.”

Finishing out the summer series of show at the Vine Theater will be Jerry Hager and his ensemble team performing “The Enchanted Theatre” on Sept. 15 and 16. This show will combine physical imagery, storytelling and mystery to tell the tale of an actor who revisited his house of imagination, “The Theatre,” and includes mime, masks and creative expression, according to the website.
