Thanksgiving trash

As a result of Thanksgiving, scheduled trash collection will be delayed one day for Thursday, Nov. 23, and Friday, Nov. 24.

Small Business Saturday

Ramona Chamber of Commerce is the “Neighborhood Champion” for its fourth annual Shop Small event on Saturday, Nov. 25. Started in 2010 to offset Black Friday sales of big box stores, Small Business Saturday has gained momentum each year, said Stacy Bart, Ramona chamber director in charge of the local campaign. American Express provides promotional materials such as pens, posters, balloons, welcome mats, bandanas and buttons free to participating businesses in town.

“Ramona shoppers have been wonderful supporters of the Shop Small campaign,” Bart said in an email. “We are grateful for the support of the community. Small Business Saturday has definitely helped boost seasonal sales for our local stores.”

Supervisor’s revitalization meeting

County Supervisor Dianne Jacob will host her biannual Ramona Community Revitalization Steering Committee meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 28, at 2 p.m. in the Ramona Library Community Room, 1275 Main St.

Committee chairs representing such topics as parks and recreation, economic development, health and human services, infrastructure and transportation, and public safety and law enforcement will join county staff and the supervisor in providing updates on community projects and goals. The meeting is open to the public.

Community awards

Ramona Chamber of Commerce will accept nominations for Business of the Year, Nonprofit of the Year, Citizen of the Year and Lifetime Achievement until Dec. 1 at 4 p.m. With the exception of Lifetime Achievement, the nominations should be for activities in 2017. Nominees do not have to be chamber members. Nomination forms are on the chamber website, ramonachamber.com.

Every year, the chamber recognizes people and organizations in Ramona for their benefit to the community. These individuals and organizations are recognized at the annual Ramona Chamber of Commerce Installation Dinner and Awards Gala in January.

‘Dirty Deeds’ silent auction
