A blend of French provincial and Hollywood Regency styles, the stately two-story house was built in 1924 and later expanded.

The 8,152 square feet of updated open-plan living space includes dining and living rooms, a bar, a bonus room, a den and a breakfast room. A lanai and a covered patio extend the living space outdoors.

High ceilings and walls of glass are among interior details. The main house has three fireplaces, six bedrooms and five bathrooms. Another bedroom and bathroom are in the guesthouse.

The more than half-acre grounds include a swimming pool, lawn and mature trees.

Sherman, who died two years ago at 86, wrote songs for such classic films as “Mary Poppins,” “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang,” “The Jungle Book” and “Winnie the Pooh.”

His lifelong songwriting collaborator was his brother, Richard. They won Oscars for the song “Chim Chim Cher-ee” and for the “Mary Poppins” score. They also wrote the song “It’s a Small World (After All),” known to millions as the theme song for the Disneyland ride.

Jeff Hyland and Susan Smith of Hilton & Hyland, an affiliate of Christie’s International Real Estate, are the listing agents.

Midcentury home attracts his focus

Celebrity photographer and home designer Mark Liddell is ready to put a buyer in this picture. He’s redone a La Cañada Flintridge house and listed it at $3.2 million

The serial home remodeler and designer reworked a 1961 Midcentury Modern-style house, creating a light-filled kitchen with a center island and outfitting the four en suite bathrooms with high-end fixtures and tiles. The kitchen of the 4,453-square-foot house has a fireplace and opens to a great room with wood-beam ceilings. There’s a separate media room.

Walls of glass look out onto a swimming pool and spa. Views take in the cityscape.

Liddell — whose celebrity subjects include LeAnn Rimes, Avril Lavigne, Britney Spears, Sarah Jessica Parker and Janet Jackson — has been doing home interiors for more than 15 years. His 2009 book, “Exposed: 10 Years in Hollywood,” chronicles more than 100 shoots of A-listers and notables.

Public records show Liddell bought the nearly half-acre property this year for $1.91 million.

Timothy Durkovic of Dilbeck Real Estate is the listing agent.
