Jason Statham buys designer showplace in Beverly Hills

Leading man Jason Statham has bought the family home of fashion designer Jenni Kayne and her husband, real estate agent Richard Ehrlich, in Beverly Hills for $12.995 million.

Masterfully redone by architect Jeffrey Allsbrook, the 1980s two-story was dated and in need of repair when the couple bought it in 2006 for $4.582 million.

Today the contemporary showplace has been expanded to include living, family, great and dining rooms, a den, a media room, five bedrooms and eight bathrooms. Tax records report more than 5,600 square feet of interior space.

Reclaimed barn wood was used on the kitchen ceilings, counters and for built-in seating. There are fireplaces in the den, living room and master bedroom.

Set on more than a third of an acre, the house is surrounded by hedges and opens to a koi pool with a fountain. Native grasses, decomposed concrete paths and olive trees complete the grounds.

Statham, 47, is known for his leading roles in the “Fast & Furious,” “Expendables” and “Transporter” film series. The box-office draw stars this year in “Wild Card,” “Spy” and “Furious 7.” He’ll star next year in “Mechanic: Resurrection.”

Kayne has her own fashion label and stores in West Hollywood, Brentwood and Montecito. The high-profile house has been featured in such publications as Architectural Digest and C Magazine.

Ehrlich of Westside Estate Agency had the listing. Ben Bacal of Rodeo Realty represented Statham.
