XB360, PS3, PC 2.5 stars The new "Call of Duty Elite" service has been criticized because it asks gamers to pay an extra subscription fee ($50) to unlock bonus content and social networking features for "Modern Warfare 3." Activision didn't help its cause when the service was down or spotty for the first couple of weeks after the release of "MW3." Everything is stable now, but "Elite" has been underwhelming because most of the information included has been available in the past for free. But because it also includes access to all the new map packs that will be released in the next 12 months, "Elite" is still a must-buy for huge fans of America's favorite military shooter.
