Ryan Phillippe's mom doesn't mind that people call her son a DILF, now that she knows what it means.
"I think she's embraced DILF," Phillippe said on Friday's "The Ellen DeGeneres Show."
Phillippe, who stars in the upcoming film "The Lincoln Lawyer," was telling DeGeneres that his parents pay way too much attention to things written about him on the Internet, including rumors about his love life (current rumor: he's dating Amanda Seyfried). He said some of the trash talk gets his mom upset.
"She's always like, 'Ryan, why are they calling you a tool? Why do they think you're a jerk?'" he explained, adding that she "she took particular umbrage" to comments calling him a DILF.
"She goes, 'I don't like that. I don't know what that means but I don't like. What is that Ryan? And I go, 'Well, actually Mom, that means I am a dad that they'd like to have sex with,'" he said, laughing. "And then I hear my dad in the background, 'Susan, did he tell you what a DILF is?' And she's like, 'Yes, it means they want to have sex with him.'"
Phillippe, who has two children with his ex-wife, Reese Witherspoon, confirmed that he is, indeed, dating, but "not nearly as veracious as the magazines like to make out."
"I like a strong woman," he said, with a sense of humor. "I have three sisters and I have a daughter and I like individuality. I like a woman who's self possessed. Who knows who she is. Who knows what she wants."
Phillippe would not confirm whether he is dating "Red Riding Hood" star Seyfried.Copyright © 2014, Los Angeles Times
