HBO gave us a little hint about Season 3 of "Game of Thrones" on Wednesday: It will premiere March 31, the network shows in its first teaser poster.
The March 31 date was hinted at back in July at the San Diego Comic Con, but Wednesday HBO posted the poster on its "GOT" Facebook page, so now it's set in stone. Maybe they picked that date to optimize the number of 3s in the poster?
The poster doesn't reveal much else about the third installment of the series, which is adapted from George R. R. Martin's epic fantasy book series "A Song of Ice and Fire." It does, however, make clear that characters will continue to battle with swords, as the poster shows three of them.
This news comes about a week after fans learned that Coldplay's Will Champion will guest star in Season 3, playing a drummer. Other new cast members were announced at SDCC, including the most awesome Diana Rigg as Olenna.
Other new cast members include Ciaran Hinds as Mance Rayder; Clive Russell as Catelyn Stark's uncle, Bryndon Tully; Tobias Menzies as Catelyn's brother, Edmure Tully; Mackenzie Crook as wildling raider Orell Skinchanger; Richard Dormer as Beric Dondarrion, leader of the Brothers Without Banners; Nathalie Emannuel as the child slave Missandei; Kerry Ingram as Stannis Baratheon's only child, Shireen; Tara Fitzgerald as Stannis' estranged wife, Selyse; Paul Kaye as the red priest Thoros of Myr; Thomas Brodie-Sangster as Bran Stark's friend Jojen Reed; Ellie Kendrick as Jojen Reed's sister, Meera; Kristofer Hivju as Tormund Giantsbane, chief lieutenant of wildling leader Mance Rayder; Philip McGinley as archer Anguy, and Anton Lesser as ex-maester Qyburn.
Are you ready for the third season of "Game of Thrones?" Clear your calendars now, people!
