"Wherever that thing is people tend to want to be there and be around it," Kane said, calling it the "coolest trophy in sports."
Kane also told Letterman how the last time the Blackhawks won the title, in 2010, he took Lord Stanley's Cup to a Jimmy Buffett concert, among other things.
"Nice you could get a date," Letterman cracked. He then tried to get Kaner to talk about "another category of activity" players do with the Cup, but Kane wasn't sharing.
"There's a lot of stuff that probably doesn't need to be said on the show," he responded to laughter.
But Letterman, as usual, got the last laugh. He asked Kane to take the cup outside the New York studio and hold it up so Letterman could try to "fill it up." That's when Kane was doused by the "Late Show" Hose-Cam set up on the corner of Broadway and 53rd Street.
