The Mac Daddy

$12 at Rockit Burger Bar (3700 N. Clark St. 773-645-4400) Toppings: Mac 'n' cheese, pulled pork, caramelized onions Weirdness rating: 3. Cheese on a burger is classic; mac 'n' cheese on a burger is twisted. Messiness rating: 1. Keeping the roly-poly spiral noodles from popping out of the burger was the only challenge. I expected this to be more indulgent than the cheesiest cheeseburger. After all, Rockit's baked mac 'n' cheese, when ordered as an entree, is gooey, saucy and sinfully cheesy. As a burger topping, I got half-dozen dry noodles. The lackluster mac didn't add any richness to the chunks of pork or beef patty, which, to add insult to injury, was nearly well-done when ordered medium rare. --Lisa Arnett
