"A new favorite. Because it's down the street from my office, I want Bavette's to become my local spot. For a summer, I worked at P.J. Clarke's in New York. Though Bavette's is virtually brand new, with all its vintage touches, from the stockyard signage to the French mirrors and light fixtures, it has the feel of a place like Clarke's that's been open for more than a century. That it serves hearty classics like beef stroganoff with pitch-perfect drinks, it keeps me coming back for more. Feeling blue? Head downstairs to their parlor room, ask your tender to make you a Hot Toddy with Basil Hayden's and to crank the Elmore James."
