Matachines Dancers at St. Adalbert

The dancing coincides with the feast in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe, who is said to have appeared to Juan Diego, a poor man, on Dec. 9, 1531, as he walked to church near present-day Mexico City. The Matachines dance in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe each December to mark her appearance and subsequent miracle.
