The active ingredient in marijuana can calm inflammation in the brain, but its "high" is little help to those with neurodegenerative diseases, such as Martina Kafkova, a Czech woman diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. A new study suggests a simple way to separate the two effects, making pot a potentially powerful treatment for such conditions as Alzheimer's disease.
