What time is it?
For Magic 92.5, it's time — well, almost — for the San Diego radio station to celebrate its 20th anniversary of broadcasting by hosting the Magic 92.5 Birthday Bash concert.
To be held June 17 at Valley View Casino Center, the concert will be headlined by Morris Day & The Time, who teamed with Bruno Mars for a high-octane Prince tribute at the 2017 Grammy Awards.
The lineup will also feature at least eight other acts. They include Stevie B, Zapp, Exposé, Blackstreet, Ginuwine, Kid 'N Play, Shock G of Digital Underground and Jalil and Ecstasy of Whodini.
Digital Underground and Kid 'N Play first performed at Valley View Casino Center — then known as the San Diego Sports Arena — in 1990 as part of the Public Enemy-headlined "Sizzlin' Summer '90" hip-hop tour. Whodini's first San Diego Sports Arena show was as part of the 1984 Swatch Watch New York City Fresh Festival.
Tickets for the Magic 92.5 Birthday Bash concert go on sale Friday at 11 a.m. at the Valley View Casino Center box office, online at axs.com and by phone at (888) 929-7849.
A limited number of tickets will be priced at $20 each. All other tickets are priced at $38.50 to $75.50 each.
Magic made its debut on March 5, 1997. The station initially aired at 95.7 FM, then moved to to 92.5 in 1998.
"We are so proud of the milestone… and we owe it all to the amazing Magic audience here in San Diego," said Magic 92.5's Program Director R Dub!, in a statement released Monday morning. "This concert is a symbol for two decades of music and memories."
