Before hitting Stagecoach, Walker McGuire makes a San Diego stop

Share

Two days before the country duo of Jordan Walker and Johnny McGuire — aka Walker McGuire — hit the Stagecoach Festival in Indio, they’ll be serving up some country tunes at Moonshine Beach.

Named by Rolling Stone as one of the 10 new country artists to watch in 2017, the Texas-raised Walker brings the super heavy country sensibilities to this coupling while Kansas City-native McGuire tends to favor the likes of Tom Petty and John Prine.

“We tell people, if you took Keith Whitley and Tom Petty and intersected them at Matchbox 20, that’s kind of what we’re going for,” Walker says. Also on the bill: sisters Emma and Maddie Salute and their longtime friend Dawson Anderson — otherwise known as Temecula Road.

Walker McGuire, with Temecula Road: Doors open at 7 p.m. Showtime at 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 25. Moonshine Beach, 1165 Garnet Ave., Pacific Beach. Limited pre-sale: $5. General admission: $10. 21-and-up only. (858) 999-0158. moonshinebeachsd.com
