Taylor Swift announces 2018 ‘Reputation’ tour

Taylor Swift is hitting the road in a big way next year.

On Monday morning she announced the first 27 tour dates of her 2018 “Reputation” stadium tour on Twitter with a tweet that reads: “WE’LL SEE YOU SOON!”

The tour is in support of her new album, “Reputation,” which was released Friday and sold 700,000 copies in a day. The tour opens May 8 at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona and concludes Oct. 6 in Texas at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

Swift’s tour includes two California dates so far: May 12 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara; and May 19 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. The week gap between those two shows suggests she could add more California dates, either with extra concerts in Santa Clara and Pasadena, or — perhaps — with a concert in San Diego, where she drew a crowd of 44.710 to her sold-out show at Petco Park in 2015.

Then again, given that a man somehow got on stage during her Petco show and was headed in Swift’s direction before being tackled, it could be she doesn’t have particularly fond memories of her most recent San Diego performance. Either that, or the fact that the Rose Bowl holds more than twice as many people as Petco makes it a far more lucrative venue for her to play.

The tour is being promoted by AEG Entertainment, which owns a controlling interest in San Diego’s Valley View Casino Center and exclusively books the Humphreys Concerts by the Bay series.

Swift alluded to her 2018 tour in August. After releasing the single “Look What You Made Me Do” that month, she announced a partnership with Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan program, which is designed to prevent scalpers and bots from buying and re-selling tickets. Registration for the Verified Plan program closes Nov. 28.

No ticket prices or specific on-sale dates have been announced as yet.
