AC/DC rocks Seville in only Spanish show

Share

Seville’s La Cartuja Stadium witnessed on Tuesday a great night of rock under the direction of Angus Young, who at 61 confirmed himself as the undisputed leader of AC/DC following the departure of lead singer Brian Johnson.

Neither the change of vocalist nor the bad weather managed to roil the return of the Australian band to Seville, where more than 60,000 people packed the stadium for the only Spanish appearance of AC/DC’s current tour.

Guitar hero Young and his bandmates served up hits such as “Rock or Bust,” “Back in Black,” and “Rock and Roll Damnation.”

The buildup to the show was marred by controversy connected with the departure of Johnson, who retired due to hearing problems.

Some fans in Seville were unhappy with the choice of Guns ‘N Roses front man Axl Rose as Johnson’s temporary replacement and demanded refunds.

While concert promoters returned money to some ticketbuyers, others complained of being shortchanged.
