Her job is to be flawless. Alessandra Ambrosio is paid to be perfect yet is fully aware that aging is “inevitable.” She looks after herself, allows herself the occasional treat and says her beauty secrets include salads, juices, coconut water and protecting her skin from the sun.

“Growing old is inevitable. I’m not worried,” the 35yearold Ambrosio told EFE TV in an interview Friday, saying she takes care of herself without going overboard and that her keys to life are hydration, meditation and most importantly “being happy.”

A member of that select club of Brazilian supermodels from the 1990s, she follows a balanced diet consisting mainly of fruit, vegetables, juices, fish and meat. “I drink coconut water to hydrate,” the model said, adding that she won’t hesitate to join her children for an ice cream or some other sweet when the occasion arises.

Ambrosio, who does Pilates and yoga to maintain her figure and also meditates, insists that protecting oneself from the sun is the key to remaining beautiful, saying that “at the beach I always wear a big sun hat, sunglasses and sunscreen.”

Discovered in 1996 at a beauty pageant when she was just a teenager, Ambrosio recognizes that Photoshop is used in her profession.

“A little bit is okay to adjust lighting and get a velvety skin texture,” said the supermodel, who is best known for her work with Victoria’s Secret, but “sometimes I see photos that have been edited so much that we look like plastic dolls.”
