Crime kingpins played by Puerto Rico’s Amaury Nolasco and MexicanAmerican actor Danny Trejo battle it out in the new film “In the Blood”, to premiere April 4.

“I love the screenplay of the movie ‘In the Blood,’ about a couple honeymooning on the Caribbean island when the husband is kidnapped, he just disappears, and the desperate bride looks for him and no one knows anything about it,” Nolasco told EFE.

“But the guy who kidnaps him is me in the character of Silvio Lugo, an individual who is in on everything that happens on the island. Sure, the island has a government and everything, but in the underworld I’m the boss,” he said.

The cast of the 90minute action flick includes Luis Guzman and mixed martial arts champ Gina Carano as Ava, the wife.

Nolasco said that when he and Trejo would finish shooting an action scene, they both broke out laughing. “It’s just that Danny like me is kind of a teddy bear, he’s very affectionate, a wonderful human being, but he looks tough on the outside and tries to be the bad guy,” the actor said.

Nolasco, 43, was born in Puerto Rico and emigrated to the United States at age 24 to study acting at the American British Dramatic Art School.

“Afterwards I came to Los Angeles, California, looking for work, and my first movie was in 2002 as the Orange Julius character in the movie ‘Fast and Furious,’ racing cars against the late Paul Walker,” Nolasco said.
