Anna Paquin will not be in next “X-Men” movie

The Rogue character played by actress Anna Paquin in the “XMen” saga has disappeared in the editing of the latest sequel, “Days of Future Past,” scheduled to premiere next May.

After appearing in three films, Paquin did a scene for the fourth film in the series, but its director, Bryan Singers, decided to cut it from the final edit.

Singer told Entertainment Weekly that the scene, which Paquin shared with Ian McKellen as Magneto and Patrick Stewart as Professor X, turned out to be “extraneous.”

Paquin had done “a fantastic job. She was awesome in the sequence. She’s a brilliant actress,” the director said, adding that the actress totally understood his decision.

The scene that was eliminated will probably be seen in the bonus footage on the DVD of “XMen: Days of Future Past,” the third movie of the saga directed by Singer, who previously filmed “XMen” in the year 2000 and “XMen 2” in 2003.
