At least nine people have been killed and five others wounded in a suicide attack by Boko Haram in a village in the Far North Region of Cameroon, media reported on Thursday.

The explosion took place on Wednesday night in Djakana, which is located near the border with Nigeria and considered the epicenter of attacks from the terrorist group.

At the end of April, the selfdefense militias of the area detained a 20yearold girl, who intended to blow herself up with explosives at a market in the small Cameroonian town.

After several weeks of relative calm in the Far North Region, Boko Haram has carried out several attacks, killing at least one soldier and three civilians.

Boko Haram has killed more than 12,000 people in the sixyear conflict according to government estimates but other sources double that figure, and forced over 2.5 million people to flee their homes.
