Bolt’s lightning strikes thrice as he takes home his ninth gold medal

Share

Usain Bolt, the greatest sprinter in history, accomplished the tripletriple Olympian glory by winning, as a member of the Jamaican 4x100 relay, his ninth Olympic gold medal, having already won the individual in the 100m and 200m.

Bolt thus won the same three events at three consecutive Olympic Games, a feat only spoiled by the fact that these likely were his last Olympics.

Never shy for great words Bolt commented: “There you go. I’m the greatest.”

Jamaica, with a motivated as ever finishing runner Bolt, won their third consecutive gold medal in the short relay with a time of 37.27, Japan came second with 37.60 and Canada third with 37.64.

The United States, at the finish line in bronze medal position, was a few minutes later disqualified for a faulty pass of the baton between the first (Mike Rodgers) and second runner (Justin Gatlin). EFE
