The Boston Celtics defeated the Golden State Warriors 109106 thanks in part to Isaiah Thomas’ 22point scoring night, snapping the defending NBA champions’ 54game regularseason home winning streak.

Superstar point guard Stephen Curry missed a long 3point attempt with 5.3 seconds remaining that would have tied Friday night’s contest and possibly sent it to overtime.

The Warriors, who fell to 688 and now must win five of their remaining six regularseason games to break the Michael Jordanled 199596 Chicago Bulls’ record for most wins in a season, had not lost at the Oracle Arena in Oakland since a Jan. 27, 2015, overtime defeat at the hands of the Bulls.

Golden State hurt itself with 22 turnovers, eight more than the Celtics committed, while Boston also got to the freethrow line more often than the home team, making 19of30 foul shots compared with the Warriors’ tally of 10for13.

The Warriors got a gamehigh 29 points from Curry, who made eight of Golden State’s 20 3point shots; 16 points, nine rebounds and seven assists from doitall power forward Draymond Green; and 15 points from shooting guard Klay Thompson.

Curry, however, hurt his team with a gamehigh nine turnovers.

The Celtics (4432) snapped their twogame losing streak thanks to a balanced scoring attack that mainly relied on twopoint shots, with forward Evan Turner and center Jared Sullinger supporting Thomas by scoring 21 points and 20 points, respectively.

Sullinger made two of the Celtics’ eight 3pointers on the night.
