British actress Daisy Ridley today quit the social network Instagram after facing a slew of criticism for her antigun violence post.

The actress who has risen to stardom after her role as Rey in ‘Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens (2015) posted a message on her Instagram account after attending the Teen Choice Awards the previous day.

At the gala, Hollywood actress Jessica Alba called for an end to gun violence and was accompanied by a group of victims on stage.

“As I sat in the audience yesterday tears were streaming down my face at the tribute to those that have been lost to gun violence,” Ridley said.

“I didn’t get a great picture of the incredible group that came on stage but they were so brave. It was a true moment of togetherness. We must #stoptheviolence,” she added.

In the wake of criticism of her post, Ridley deleted her account on Instagram and erased the same message on her Facebook where she had also published the post.

Ridley’s decision comes merely fifteen days after ‘Ghostbusters’ reboot star Leslie Jones quit Twitter after being harassed from fellow Twitter users.

“I leave Twitter tonight with tears and a very sad heart. All this because I did a movie. You can hate the movie but the shit I got today...wrong,” wrote the 48yearold actress.
