Definitive resolution to Ukraine conflict still long way away, Germany says

Share

The German Foreign Minister FrankWalter Steinmeier stated on Tuesday in the Bulgarian capital that although violence has decreased in Ukraine, there is still much to do in order to resolve the Ukrainian conflict, while he pledged that Kiev will continue to receive economic aid.

The European Union, or E.U., managed to halt the escalation of violence in eastern Ukraine, which was an important step, yet a definitive resolution is still a long ways away, while the E.U. remains committed to providing financial support to Ukraine, according to Steinmeier.

The German official, who arrived in Sofia on an official visit, stressed that despite discrepancies between the stances and relations of E.U. countries in regards to Russia, the E.U. was able to adopt a common position to reach the ceasefire agreement signed last February between proRussian separatists and Ukrainian authorities.
