DiCaprio prepares to play Putin on the big screen

American actor Leonardo DiCaprio will play Russian President Vladimir Putin in a film which begins shooting this year.

An official at Knightsbridge Entertainment, Valeri Saarian, said that they will approve the final version of the script of a film which is a political thriller and will be titled Putin.

DiCaprio, who aspires this year to win the first Oscar of his career for his role in ‘The Revenant’ by Mexican director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, has accepted the role for which he had shown great interest, according to Saarian.

“Putin would be very, very, very interesting and I would love to play him.

“That is fascinating for an actor. Lenin would be an interesting role and I would like also to star as Rasputin,” the actor said recently.

The film will be shot in Russia, the United States and Europe, and will be released in the first half of 2017, one year before Putin will most likely run for reelection after 18 years in power.
