British actress Charlotte Rampling and Austrian actor Christoph Waltz will be awarded with the Lifetime Achievement Award and the European Achievement in the World Cinema awards respectively, by the European Film Academy, or EFA, at its annual ceremony which will be held on Dec. 12.

Officials from the Berlinbased academy highlighted in a statement Rampling’s “outstanding body of work” with film directors such as Luchino Visconti, Liliana Cavani, Patrice Chereau, Francois Ozon, Laurent Cantet, Claude Lelouch, Gianni Amelio, Bille August and Lars von Trier.

The British actress was previously nominated five times by EFA, and won best European Actress in 2003 for her role in “Swimming Pool”.

She recently received a Silver Berlin Bear for her role in “45 years”, which is also part of this year’s EFA selection.

Waltz, winner of the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his roles in “Inglourious Basterds” and “Django Unchained”, will be presented with the EFA honorary prize “for his great international contribution to film.”

EFA awards have been presented annually since 1988 as an alternative to Hollywood’s Oscars, with support from 40 European directors, including the German Wim Wenders and Ingmar Bergman from Sweden.
