The Turkish president discussed his meetings with the American and Russian presidents in a press conference on Monday.

Following meetings during the G20 summit with Barack Obama and Vladimir Putin, Recep Tayyip Erdogan said he proposed the formation of nofly zones in Syria.

He said he believed the conversations between Obama and Putin would result in an eventual ceasefire in Aleppo.

President Putin also said Monday that he thought his conversations with Obama would crystallize into a deal in the next few days.

“Given the gaps of trust that exist, that’s a tough negotiation, and we haven’t yet closed the gaps in a way where we think it would actually work,” said Obama.

Erdogan also asked G20 members to fully cooperate in the fight against terrorism.

“We can’t have good terrorists and bad terrorists, neither of them can be defended,” he said, adding that terrorism can act like a boomerang, hitting back against those who initially supported it.

Erdogan also participated in talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President François Hollande, and Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi.
