France to double number of centers to treat radicalized individuals

Share

French Prime Minister Manuel Valls announced a plan on Monday to counteract Jihadist terrorism, which includes doubling the number of facilities to treat individuals with symptoms of radicalization in the next two years.

The package of 80 measures would increase the resources for an interagency anticrime fund, adding $45.5 million to the 2016 and 2017 budgets, on top of the $22.7 million announced for 2015.

Valls said France was “living in an era of hyper terrorism,” adding that in the past three years more than 15 terrorist plots were foiled.

The official said he expected there would be new attacks.

The government aims to have a center to treat “radicalized individuals” or people susceptible to Jihad’s appeal in each of France’s regions by the end of 2017.
