Ion Izaguirre (Movistar Team) of Spain on Saturday won the penultimate stage of the Tour de France, a 146.5 kilometer (91 mile) mountainous course from Megeve to Morzine, ahead of Sunday’s final ride into the French capital.

Despite the rain, Izaguirre completed Stage 20 in 4 hours, 6 minutes, 45 seconds, the first win for his team and making him the first Spanish victor of the 2016 edition of the Tour.

Colombia’s Jarilson Pantano (IAM Cyling) came in 19 seconds behind and Italy’s Vincenzo Nibali (Astana) 42 seconds behind.

Wearing bandages on his knee and arm as signs of Friday’s fall, Briton Chris Froome (Team Sky) hung onto the yellow jersey, bringing him closer to a third Tour de France victory when it all draws to a close on the Champs Elysee on Sunday.

In the overall classifications, Froome maintains a 4 minute and 5 second lead over his closest competitor Romain Bardet of France, with Nairo Quintana of Colombia 4 minutes and 21 seconds behind.

Fellow Briton Adam Yates (Orica Bikeexchange) stays in fourth place.

Sunday’s Stage 21, the final stage, will see the riders tackle an 113 kilometer (70.2 mile) route from Chantilly to Paris.
