Game of Thrones season 6 set for April 24 premiere

The sixth season of the immensely popular epic fantasy saga Game of Thrones will premier on April 24, said channel HBO Thursday on Twitter.

Season six is particularly special for the series because it will be the first time that the television adaptation will be released before George R.R. Martin’s book on which the series is based is published.

Recently, the novelist said he had failed to finish on time the sixth volume of his acclaimed saga, “The Winds of Winter”, expressing the difficulty of the new book reaching bookstores before the new season debuts on HBO.

As usual, preparation for the new season has been kept under maximum secrecy, but it is now known that actors Max von Sydow and Ian McShane have joined the cast of actors that includes Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington.
