U.S. actor George Clooney said on Tuesday that countries like Spain, Italy and Greece, which are going through trying times, are all wonderful places that have not lost their charm despite years of economic crisis.

Clooney defended the eternal appeal of the countries during a press conference at the premier of his new film “Tomorrowland,” directed by Brad Bird and produced by Walt Disney Pictures, on Tuesday in the City of Arts and Sciences of Valencia in eastern Spain, where several scenes of the film were shot.

The actor, well known as a human rights and political activist, said he knew that things have been difficult in Spain and Europe in recent years due to the economic crisis.
