Germany’s Jung wins equestrian gold in individual eventing

German rider Michael Jung on Tuesday successfully defended his Olympic title in individual eventing, winning his country’s first gold medal of the Rio Games.

Riding Sam, the 34yearold is only the third rider in Olympic history to win gold in successive Games.

Joining Jung on the podium were silver medalist Astier Nicolas of France and U.S. rider Phillip Dutton, who won the bronze medal atop Mighty Nice.
