Hunger Games snatches U.K. box office top slot from Spectre

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2, the final part of the Hunger Games film sequels has snatched, with 11 million pounds sterling (around $16.5 million),the U.K. box office top slot this week from James Bond’s Spectre.

According to the BBC on Wednesday, Mockingjay Part 2 ended the run at the top for the latest James Bond movie, which lasted for three weeks.

Spectre, starring Daniel Craig as Bond, took 3.82 million pounds sterling (around $5.76 million) over the last weekend, above The Lady in the Van in third place with 1.61 million pounds sterling (around $2.43 million).

Animated sequel Hotel Transylvania 2 came in fourth, while Brooklyn, starring Saoirse Ronan, came in fifth.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 was first screened in Britain in November 2014, and earned 12.6 million pounds sterling (around $18.9 million) in its first week, according to its distributor Lionsgate.
