Italian Flavia Pennetta qualifies for WTA finals in Singapore

Italian tennis player and winner of the 2015 U.S. Open, Flavia Pennetta secured on Wednesday her place in the 2015 WTA finals in Singapore after beating Russia’s Daria Gavrilova 62, 64, in the second round of the Kremlin Cup in Moscow.

Pennetta, seeded third in the tournament, has advanced to the quarterfinals in Moscow, and gathered 3,252 points to ensure her presence in the 2015 WTA finals, which is scheduled to be held in Singapore from Oct. 25 to Nov. 1.

Pennetta joined the German Angelique Kerber, Romanian Simona Halep, Spain’s Garbine Muguruza, Russian Maria Sharapova, the Czech Petra Kvitova and Polish Agnieszka Radwanska, who have already qualified to the WTA finals.
