The star wide receiver told quarterback Matthew Stafford and linebacker Stephen Tulloch that he planned to retire.

The nineyear veteran has sustained a series of injuries that made him experience constant pain and reduced his productivity.

Johnson played in all 16 games during the 2015 season, finishing with 88 receptions for 1,214 yards, with nine touchdowns.

The star wide receiver, known as “Megatron,” had his sixth consecutive 1,000yard season in 2015.

Johnson is the franchise’s alltime leader in receptions, with 731, and receiving yards, with 11,619.
