Lloyds to cut another 9,000 jobs, close 150 branches

Lloyds Bank announced plans on Tuesday to cut another 9,000 jobs over the next three years, or a tenth of its workforce.

In a note to the London Stock Exchange, the partiallynationalized bank said it would also close 150 branches over the same period.

Lloyds also outlined its strategic plan in the note and presented its financial results for the JanuarySeptember period, a gross profit of 1.6 billion pounds ($2.6 billion).

The new job cuts come after 30,000 staff positions were eliminated following the government bailout of the British bank during the financial crisis of 2008, and a further 15,000 in a threeyear plan announced in 2011.
