Morgan Freeman, J.J. Abrams to be among the Oscar presenters

Morgan Freeman, John Legend, J.J. Abrams, Sacha Baron Cohen and Henry Cavill are the celebrities to be announced most recently by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as presenters at the 88th edition of the Oscars, which will be awarded on Feb. 28.

The institution on Thursday issued a communique saying that Dave Grohl, the front man for the Foo Fighters, will give a special performance during the ceremony.

“This year’s show reflects a commitment to showcase cinematic contributions from a variety of genres, and this latest list of presenters reflects just that,” said the producers of this year’s ceremony, David Hill and Reginald Hudlin.

Previously, artists such as Patricia Arquette, Cate Blanchett, Emily Blunt, Steve Carell, Russell Crowe, Benicio del Toro, Chris Evans, Ryan Gosling, Michael B. Jordan, Lady Gaga, Jennifer Garner, Jared Leto, Rachel McAdams, Julianne Moore, Eddie Redmayne, Daisy Ridley, Margot Robbie, Sam Smith, Charlize Theron, Sofia Vergara and Reese Witherspoon, among others, had all confirmed their presence at the ceremony.

The 88th edition of the Oscars, which will be hosted by comedian Chris Rock, will be held at Hollywood’s Dolby Theater and broadcast live in the United States on ABC starting at 4 p.m., local time, or 7 p.m. Eastern Time, on Feb. 28.
