World No. 1 Serena Williams won a record 308th Grand Slam match on Monday, defeating Kazakhstan’s Yaroslava Shvedova 62, 63 to move into the quarterfinals at the US Open.

The younger of the Williams sisters made quick work of Shvedova, hitting 11 aces and gaining 19 of 20 firstserve points at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Flushing Meadows.

Serena’s 30842 record in Grand Slam matches equates to a winning percentage of nearly 91 percent.

A sixtime US Open champion, the 34yearold Serena Williams, is headed to the quarterfinals for the ninth straight year.

The next obstacle on her quest for what would be a record 23rd Grand Slam title is Romania’s Simona Halep, the fifth seed, who defeated Carla Suarez Navarro 62, 75 on Monday.

Serena is 71 in matches against Halep. Their most recent meeting was at Indian Wells, where Williams beat the Romanian in the quarterfinals.
