France’s JoWilfried Tsonga, the No. 12 seed, defeated Spain’s Iñigo Cervantes 64, 76 (75), 64 in a firstround match Tuesday at Wimbledon.

The 31yearold Tsonga capitalized on seven doublefaults by Cervantes and converted on three of 14 break opportunities.

Tsonga was a semifinalist at Wimbledon in 2011 and 2012.

The 26yearold Cervantes, the world No. 75, advanced to the second round at the All England Club in 2012, when he made his only previous appearance at Wimbledon.
