Val Kilmer Denies He Has Cancer, Says Michael Douglas Is “misinformed”

American actor Val Kilmer once again has denied that he is suffering from cancer, saying his former co-star in the historical adventure film “The Ghost and the Darkness” was “misinformed” in making that claim.

“I love Michael Douglas but he is misinformed”, Kilmer wrote on his Facebook page late Tuesday, adding that he had not spoken to his colleague since asking him two years ago if he knew of a specialist who could examine a lump in his throat.

He added that he had received a diagnosis in Los Angeles and has “no cancer whatsoever.”

Douglas said at an event Monday in London that Kilmer was suffering from cancer.

“Val was a wonderful guy who is dealing with exactly what I had, and things don’t look too good for him”, the 72-year-old actor and producer said.

Douglas battled tongue cancer in 2010 but underwent chemotherapy and was found to be cancer-free the next year. He had initially said he was suffering from throat cancer.

The news spread like wildfire and prompted Kilmer to clarify his health status.

“I’m sure he meant no harm”, said Kilmer, who in September appeared at an Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences event in Los Angeles to mark the 20th anniversary of the Michael Mann film “Heat.”

The 56-year-old Kilmer had difficulty speaking on that occasion, attributing the problem to a swollen tongue.

The star of the 1995 superhero film “Batman Forever” had previously denied earlier this year on Facebook that he was battling cancer.

In replies on Facebook, he said he had been “healed of a tumor in a matter of days” last year.

Previously, in January 2015, the star of the 1997 espionage thriller “The Saint” had denied having a tumor or undergoing any kind of operation.

“I had a complication where the best way to receive care was to stay under the watchful eye of the UCLA (Intensive Care Unit)”, he said then.
