Wozniacki to face Dulgheru in Auckland Open quarterfinals

Denmark’s Caroline Wozniacki qualified for the quarterfinals of the WTA Auckland Open (New Zealand) after crushing American Christina McHale in 71 minutes by a conclusive 60, 62.

Wozniacki will face in the quarterfinals Romanian Alexandra Dulgheru, who in turn defeated New Zealand’s Marina Erakovic 76 (4), 63.

Japanese Nao Hibino also secured a place in the quarterfinals after her win against Russian Daria Kasatkina 75, 26, 75.

Hibino, who in the last round beat the defending champion and first favorite, American Venus Williams, will face Germany’s Julia Goerges, who gained her place in the next round by overcoming Czech Barbora Strycova 64, 76 (7).

American Sloane Stephens defeated Germany’s Carina Witthoeft 36, 61, 63 to face British Naomi Broady, who won over Latvian Jelena Ostapenko 46, 76 (4), 75.

Finally, Austrian Tamira Paszek, who defeated Russian Svetlana Kuznetsova 62, 63, will face Belgium’s Kirsten Flipkens, who beat American Irina Falconi 61, 46, 62.
