If you still have a hunka hunka burning love for Elvis and like to play the slots, it's time for a little less conversation.
A new Elvis: King of Rock 'n' Roll slot machine has arrived at Mardi Gras Casino in Hallandale Beach and the Seminole casinos across Florida. (As usual, the Hard Rock was out in front, getting the game June 7; but Mardi Gras is the first pari-mutuel with it, adding it last week.)
Even though the game is manufactured by International Game Technology, it's similar to the Michael Jackson: King of Pop machine made by Bally that debuted earlier this year.
"Playing top Elvis songs really allows the player to be immersed in the game," Mardi Gras slot director Michael DeLuca Jr. said.
The four progressive jackpot levels are all named for Elvis hits: "Hound Dog," "Jailhouse Rock," "Heartbreak Hotel" and "Viva Las Vegas." Each gives you a little show of its own. For example, "Heartbreak Hotel" displays seven stories and a penthouse, and players choose hotel room doors to find bonus credits. Meanwhile, icons include a guitar, an image of Elvis heading off to the Army, a white suit and, of course, blue suede shoes.
There have been other Elvis games, but "this is the first time we've really done justice to the Elvis music," IGT's Boris Hallerbach says.
