It may be a long time till De Backer is identified by another hit.
"I'm probably not going to be able to start writing new stuff till early next year, to tell you the truth," he said recently from an airport in Singapore before kicking off his world tour in South Korea.
De Backer finds alternative creative outlets while he's on tour. He says he enjoys making video mashups of his songs, and the clips pull in
"I was thinking of trying to find a VHS player in the States on this tour," he says, "so I could go raiding American thrift shops for weird and wonderful obscuria."
