Why cook a buffet on Christmas Day when there are others all too happy to carve up helpings of roast beast?

Out west, the Banyan Restaurant (250 Racquet Club Drive, Weston, inside the Bonaventure Resort and Spa) is plating a three-course Christmas dinner, including roasted butternut squash and caramelized apple soul with holiday organic Florida greens, and choice of grilled New York Strip, pan-roasted organic chicken or sautéed local grouper; and a dessert choice of peppermint panna cotta or Yule log. Also at the Bonaventure: Ireland’s Steakhouse is offering an a la carte menu of stone-crab cocktails with mustard sauce and Osetra caviar with buckwheat blinis, and an entrée choice of salmon and seared fois gras, truffle artichoke, a 14-ounce Akaushi Wagyu strip; and a dessert of candy-cane bark.
Also in Broward, but not on Christmas Day, SoLita Italian Restaurant (1032 E. Las Olas, Fort Lauderdale) will host its annual Feast of the Seven Fishes on Christmas Eve, with a multi-course a la carte seafood menu. Featured items include tagliatelle lobster and shrimp, fra diavolo, snapper Angela, shrimp SoLita, and spaghetti and crab sauce. (The Delray Beach location, 25 N.E. In West Palm Beach, E.R. Bradley’s Saloon (104 S. Clematis St.) is slinging a traditional feast of oven-roasted turkey or honey-baked ham for $22 a person. RSVP at 561-833-3520 or ERBradleys.com.
In Boca, the Dubliner (435 Plaza Real Boca Raton) is having its traditional Irish Christmas, which means liquor. Its Christmas Day dessert, an Irish tiramisu ($7), swaps the key espresso ingredient for Irish coffee, and replaces the rum with Bailey’s Irish Cream. Entrees include a choice of roasted stuffed turkey plated alongside roasted veg, pan gravy and mash or pan-seared hog snapper with leeks, capers and garlic, served with roasted root veg and mash. Kitchen 305 (16701 Collins Ave., North Miami Beach) is ringing in Christmas with a holiday dinner buffet from 1 to 6 p.m., Along with starters from the kitchen’s cold bar, there’s oven-roasted turkey with Gilbert gravy, cranberry and orange terrine and honey-glazed ham, each accompanied by crispy pork stuffing; a butternut squash and yam pudding; and a green pea and pearl onion stew. Sugarcane Raw Bar Grill (3250 N.E. First Ave., Miami), meanwhile, is offering an a la carte menu of pan-seared fois-gras-cinnamon-apple brioche, Swiss chard with cranberry gastrique and Duroc pork-belly porchetta.
