Baseball player Jose Offerman Jose Offerman, of the Long Island Ducks, is arrested on assault charges after an Atlantic League baseball game in Bridgeport, Conn., on Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2007. Hit by a fastball, Offerman, a two-time MLB All-Star, charged the mound with his bat and swung at least twice, allegedly striking two opposing players. Bridgeport catcher John Nathans got a concussion likely to sideline him for the rest of the season; pitcher Matt Beech wound up with a broken finger. The independent Atlantic League suspended him indefinitely. "It was one of those moments that you want to forget. I lost it for about 10 seconds," Offerman told the Connecticut Post.
