Drivers age 55 and older can review their driving skills during a May 18 AARP driver safety class in Coral Springs.
The course -- $12 for AARP members, $14 for non-members -- may enable graduates to get a discount on auto insurance, Coral Springs police said.
Lunch will not be provided for the lesson, on Saturday, May 18, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Coral Springs Public Safety Building, 2801 Coral Springs Drive.
Attendees will review rules of the road, defensive driving techniques and how to adjust for changes in vision, hearing and reaction times, Coral Springs Police said.
Other topics are how to manage blind spots; proper following distances; making safe lane changes and turns at busy intersections and the correct use of seat belts, air bags and anti-lock brakes, the agency said.
The effect of medications on drivers and the need to avoid distractions like cellphones will also be covered.
