So, apparently players do like that really big bad beat money: The state released the September revenues for poker rooms this week, and the Palm Beach Kennel Club had the biggest gain. They're up 28 percent over last September, taking in $1,150,692 -- second in the state.
Not coincidentally, the kennel club's bad beat jackpot went unhit and continued to grow from April until Sept. 24, when players at the $2 limit table shared a $504,833 jackpot. That's the largest jackpot ever in a single Florida poker room, and comes at a time when many casinos are ditching the bad beat jackpot in favor of hourly, and much smaller, "high hand" payouts.
