The matchup for Super Bowl XLVII is set and it should come to no surprise to South Florida high school football fans that the area will be well represented on football's biggest stage.
Between them, the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers feature 11 players from Broward and Palm Beach counties on their rosters. And if you figure the more South Florida ties the better, then the Ravens will be your team come Feb. 3. The Ravens have eight former Broward or Palm Beach standouts on their roster.
If you're keeping track by high school, here's how it breaks down:
Glades Central 3, Pahokee 2, St. Thomas Aquinas 2, Boyd Anderson 1, Chaminade-Madonna 1, Lake Worth 1, Palm Beach Gardens 1.
(And yes, math folks, if you're looking for county bragging rights, this year, those go to Palm Beach, which will have seven players in the game, to Broward's four).
