It¿s not every day that someone receives a package from cooking diva Paula Deen with an autographed cookbook. But, that¿s exactly what happened to Mindy S., a resident at the Ann Storck Center in Ft. Lauderdale who is confined to a wheelchair. Mindy, 33, is an exceptional artist who overcomes her physical and mental disabilities through painting. Every year she creates a unique, chef inspired painting for the Center¿s annual food-tasting fundraiser. This year Mindy found inspiration in one of her favorite chefs, Paula Deen. Her painting was so good that the staff at the Ann Storck Center sent a copy of Mindy¿s painting directly to Deen. Last week, a package arrived for Mindy. Her idol, Paula Deen, had received her painting and sent back an autographed copy with a personal message. An autographed cookbook, a shirt and photos of Paula and her family were also included in the package. Mindy¿s happiness and ¿happy tears¿ were barely containable. She hopes, one day another dream will come true and she can meet her muse.
