750 S. Krome Ave., Florida City, 305-246-9512 Tucked behind the last gas station before the drive into Monroe County, this southernmost tavern hosts some of the rowdiest patrons around. Their drunk, roaring laughter can be heard through the front door, even on a weekday afternoon. A sign above the door claims Sam's Hideaway is the "oldest southernmost tavern on the mainland U.S.A.," but the bartenders can't verify its accuracy. One of the regulars here likes to welcome newcomers by buying them Jell-O shots, which seem to be favorites at some dives.
